Set to Beyoncé’s high-tempo track YA YA from Cowboy Carter, this project showcases Ceci Sun performing a fast-paced, physically demanding modern-jazz choreography by faculty artist Tiffanie Carson.
Athleticism and Somatic Control
The choreographic framework of YA YA focuses on high-impact athleticism, rapid spatial changes, and deep rhythmic syncopation. Carson’s design requires absolute core stability and instant muscular transitions to mirror the track’s driving rock-and-soul instrumentation. Through this study, Sun examines how high-intensity performance energy can be maintained without compromising clean alignment and somatic control.
